So if you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you saw me mention a few months back that I paid a visit to the Rouge NY salon in NYC. Rouge is New York City’s very first boutique makeup salon aimed at fab girls on-the-go who literally just want their makeup done. It’s like your own personal makeup artist available everyday.
This week’s Monday Motivation is about cleaning the things out of my life that no longer make me happy. Life is just WAY too short to spend any time or energy doing things that don’t help you grow as a person, that don’t edify your life or that don’t put a smile on your face. One of the main reasons, I left my job and started working for myself (despite how scary and challenging I knew it would be) is because I was no longer happy. Once that happens, you lose a little bit of yourself every day. So I decided to reclaim my happy and just follow my passion.
Now don’t get me wrong, life is not going to be grand all the time. But you should always be able to pinpoint a lesson or a key takeaway if something you’re doing in life is making you miserable or causing you pain. Don’t dwell in. Accept the lesson and move on! Time is ticking folks, so don’t waste it on things you won’t have a story about in 20 years.
Leave what you don’t love behind you.
Have you had to do this recently? Any tips for clearing the life clutter?
If you spent all summer waiting to get B613’d with your fellow gladiators you’re in luck! The fall premiere of ABC Network powerhouse “Scandal” is tonight at 9PM EST. And this time, it isn’t simply being ushered in with the usual theatrical trailers. It’s now being accompanied by the launch of a new clothing line promising the professional polish that made protagonist Olivia Pope (played by Kerry Washington) a style icon. “Scandal” has collaborated with mainstream retailer The Limited on a collection inspired by the world class wardrobe of “fixer” Olivia Pope.
As I’m lining up my arsenal of skincare products for this upcoming winter, I’ve been on the market for a line that includes a great cleanser and an exfoliator.
The “perfect skin” fantasy for most girls like myself typically includes teeny tiny barely-there pores that you can’t see at first glance in a mirror. You know, basically non-existent pores. I mean, isn’t that the dream?
This weekend, the lovely folks at Dark & Lovely Au Naturale invited me out to attend their very first Au Naturale Everyday People Style Suite. The Everyday People brunch series, hosted by Chef Roble, has been going strong for quite a while now and this was my first time actually attending.
So I first introduced you guys to my obsession for jewelry brand Kendra Scott when I posted My Instaweek: NYFW Spring 2015 Edition. They were one of the amazing sponsors at the RewardStyle NYFW party and they gifted me this double ring that has essentially changed my life.
Last week, the girls and I completed our 2nd consecutive NYFW Crawl. If you’re not familiar with the “Crawl”, essentially my best blogger buddies and I get together and hit up the same events and activities as a group. It started way back in 2011 as a Fashion’s Night Out get-together and since then we’ve traveled everywhere from New Orleans (#NOLACrawl), to Barbados and the Bahamas (#CaribbeanCrawl) and the streets of NYC for #NYFWCrawl. In our second annual #NYFWCrawl, myself, Jessica of Glamazons Blog, and Lexi of LexiWithTheCurls attended a few fashion shows together, partied it up with fellow bloggers at the RewardStyle #rsNYFW shindig, got glammed up with Hard Candy and went backstage at some of our favorite shows. Here’s a glimpse at all we got into plus a fun makeup GIVEAWAY for three lucky readers from Hard Candy!
I used to be one of those girls who was completely averse to anything remotely close to a “onesie”, a romper or even worse…a jumpsuit. As someone who has a history of love/hate with certain parts of my body, jumpsuits have never been an attractive or flattering option for me.
The Edwing D’angelo Spring 2015 collection was one of our favorites when it came to backstage beauty during this NYFW. Inspired by the beautiful hairstyles of the Moroccan tribes of Africa, SoftSheen-Carson Senior Manager of Education Mezei Jefferson used the Optimum Alma Legend haircare line to re-create a modern version of these styles backstage at the Edwing D’Angelo Spring 2015 show.
During NYFW, we got the inside scoop backstage as hair brand Motions™ sponsored the hair at the David Tlale Spring 2015 show. Designer David Tlale is a South African designer who explains that his Spring 2015 collection was all about “giving women back their power and equipping them with a strong and confident sense of allure, without losing their essence and femininity.”
One of our favorite celebrity stylists Ursula Stephen was lead hairstylist for the show and she crafted this amazing “modern meets old-school glamour” textured bob for the collection. Here’s what she had to say about the hair look:
