Monday Motivation: Surround Yourself With Inspiration + 3 Ways To Decorate Work Space

LBS-inspires-11.3.14This quote from Buddha about the power of your mind is an incredible one. It sums up why some people with terminal illnesses live long past their diagnoses. It explains why Vision Boards are so powerful. What is in your mind, what you see, and what you believe provides a direct path to what will happen in your life.

With that in mind, I think it’s important to constantly surround yourself with positivity. I’ve talked on here about getting rid of negative people in your life, which I think is equally important. For me, having a lively and inspirational work space helps me focus and also keeps positivity around me while I’m working. You spend so many hours each day at your desk or in your work space, so why not make it positive and inspiring? Here are three ways 3 ways you can decorate work space with words, images and life:

1. Words

I was recently contacted by the owner of new home goods retailer Inspirado.co. I plan on doing a full review of the website later this week but they offer inspirational quotes in the form of prints and wall art that you can use to decorate your space. I chose their inspirational poster in pink & purple and it now hangs right above my desk whenever I need a little extra positivity push mid-day.

You can do things like write your favorite quotes on nice stationary and tape them around your desk or computer. You can even have your family members say nice things about you and write them down on a running “Why I’m Loved” piece of paper. Words are powerful! And very easy to use around your work space.

2. Images

Beautiful images – whether they are photographs, illustrations or prints – can be really motivating. One of my favorite illustrators of PardonMyFro is part of my workspace as her beautiful illustrations are part of my monthly wall calendar. Every time I get frustrated with my natural hair, all I have to do is peep her illustrations to get inspired again. If you have a favorite artist or a photo you can’t live without, it should definitely be at your work space. Something as simple as your best friend’s smile on the backdrop of your computer could be the difference between you having a great Monday and a “case of the Mondays”. Seriously.

3. Life

I’m obsessed with flowers in my workspace. They just make me HAPPY! And they make lots of other people happy too, hence why they’re such a popular fixture in indoor spaces. There’s a new flower delivery service called The Bouqs that serves as a subscription service for flowers delivered at intervals you’d like. They sent me a “bouq” for review in September and I LOVED it. See below.

How do you guys keep yourself surrounded by positivity? Any other tips for creating an inspiring workplace?

  1. I can always use a little inspiration to jump start my Mondays. In my workspace I also keep a mommy survival kit made out of a mason jar filled with items I enjoy or need such as EOS chapstick, CK Mascara, my favorite candy, scented hand sanitizer, aspirin and just about anything else I can fit in there that will make my day run a little smoother. Love your post, will be tweeting it this coming Monday. xo
