This past weekend I had the pleasure of hosting my very first BrownGirlsLove Empowerment Brunch here in NYC. It has been on my heart for a while to find a way to connect one-on-one with my blog readers and also to share some of the knowledge I’ve acquired over my past 6 years as a blogger. My real desire is to empower and inspire other people who want to pursue their passions as well.
I am SO humbled by the number of people who attended and supported my very first BGL brunch. We had a blast. Check out some of the highlights below:
The inaugural BrownGirlsLove Empowerment Brunch was sponsored by some brands that are near and dear to my heart like Neutrogena, Colgate and Beautiful Textures.
It was important to me to give my guests a great selection of products to go home with and these brands didn’t disappoint!
Products like Neutrogena’s Ultra Light Cleansing Oil are literally on my daily must-use products since discovering them so I gave my guests the exclusive on new products I thought they would love as much as I do.
Huge thank you also to People StyleWatch Magazine. In case you guys don’t know I have a full page ad in their August issue as part of my role at The Outfit! So each of my guests walked home with one of those as well.
We had delicious dessert macarons courtesy of Macaron Cafe. They were so good and were the perfect touch for our brunch decor.
Women in attendance ran the gamut from fellow bloggers to entrepreneurs, medical professionals, non-profit and retail executives and so many more.
It was really awesome seeing how diverse you guys are and I was so honored to share my success tips with each guest.
Of course I didn’t leave home without my mini me.
Cadence was on the scene at brunch being fabulous and entertaining, per the usual.
What brought me the most joy and excitement about this event was the idea that everyone walked away feeling like they could conquer the world.
They walked away with a few additional friends and colleagues to keep in touch with. And they left with nuggets of wisdom to get them thinking more seriously about growing and developing their passion projects like I’ve been able to do here at LoveBrownSugar, BabyBrownSugar and BrownGirlsLove.
I am really excited about potentially hosting this event again here in NYC and hopefully in some other upcoming cities. Keep your eyes peeled on our social pages for more information about upcoming events.

Looks like a great success! Congratulations! I’m currently planning my first event, my website launch. The process is very different but I’m happy to learn along the way!
