Ask LBS: White Lace Dresses

A recent wardrobe query came through my inbox that I thought would be helpful for those of you attending events this summer like summer cocktails, weddings and the like. The white trend is big this season, and lace is always a huge hit.

Hello LoveBrownSugar!
I just recently started following your blog and I love it!  I was wondering if you could by chance help me find something like Paula Patton’s Lace outfit from the May (I think) cover of Ebony, the issue that features the Jumping the Broom cast.  I’m getting married next year and I would like wear something like that to my reception.
Well Casha, here are a few options at different prices for you to try:

ASK LBS_White Lace
STEAL: TFNC Sheer Embroidered Sleeve Mini Swing Dress, ASOS, $77.58
Though this look isn’t actually lace, it gives off the same chic romantic vibe as the lace numbers, at a fraction of the cost. You can always count on ASOS for trendy steals.

SAFE: Lark Rise Lace Dress, French Connection, $288.00

Probably the closest to Paula Patton’s look on the cover of Ebony, this lace piece from French Connection hits the sweet spot between being a dead-on ringer and still falling into the affordable range for your big day.

SPLURGE: Shayna Dress, Lily Pullitzer, $368.00

Go all the way in and splurge with this Lily Pullitzer look that’s sure to steal the spotlight on your special day. The vintage appeal and fitted shape cuurve-hugging shape are signature Lily P.

Ask LBS: What Is NYLean All About?

So if you follow me on Twitter you’ve probably seen me incessantly tweeting at a man named Rob Brace aka @NYLean25. He’s actually the creator of a new fitness program I’ve taken on for the month of April.

As part of his “Blogger Madness” initiative, I was invited to take part in a 30 day fitness challenge which includes a combination of high intensity cardio-heavy workouts, 3 days a week for 25 minutes per session, as well as a meal plan. Though I didn’t post about the program on LBS, I have been tweeting pictures of my progress, and you guys wasted no time gushing with me about my loss!

“Hello Ms. LoveBrownSugar, I love your blog and I also follow you on twitter. I recently saw where you posted a pic and you look FAB 🙂 Im from GA so there is no NYLean 25…but I was wondering could you do a post about the diet that you used to drop those lbs?”
Some of you might be wondering why I waited until April 15th to tell you all about the program. My reasoning is simple – I only post about products & services that I truly love. If I don’t like it, or if it doesn’t work for me, you won’t hear about it here. That said, I wanted to be sure that the program was truly something to write home about before sharing it with you.
After week 1 of NYLean25 class
Guess who’s writing home? I am in LOVE with this NYLean25 program. Here’s why:

1. It’s a time-saver. The whole premise of the NYLean25 program is that you can achieve the same results you get doing hours upon hours in the gym, in a quick high-intensity 25 minute workout. Think of it as a 25 minute bootcamp. Once it’s over you feel like you’ve been working out for hours.

2. The community. I was fortunate enough to be invited into the program with other lovely bloggers who I adore. But aside from working out with great friends, doing a group exercise class helps with overall motivation because it pushes you. When you see others still going, you don’t want to give up either!

3. The meal plan. Although I’m absolutely in love with pasta…and cupcakes…the NYLean meal plan has really pushed me to be creative with healthier options. There are two different plans you can choose from making it pretty flexible for your lifestyle but it’s basically a combination of low-fat, low-carb meals, with frequent (healthy) snacking in between and lots of water. Once I get details on whether or not I can release the actual meal plan – I promise to post about it.

Overall, the program is going amazingly well for me. Since April 1st, I’ve lost a total of 6.5 pounds and I feel amazing!

For more information about the program, visit NYLean25.com and feel free to tweet me @LoveBrownSugar or Robert, the creator of the program @NYLean25 with questions.
