The athlete chic trend has been so big this year! From the return of joggers and tracksuits to the Alexander Wang x H&M collection, the fashion industry has taken a casual turn and it doesn’t look like this trend will be ending any time soon. For those of us who are skirt-wearing and heel-rocking ladies, getting into this trend can be difficult. At LBS, we love a good heel, but have found that sneakers are stylish too, and definitely a good way to give your feet some well-deserved rest. Keep reading for the most stylish sneakers and where to buy them!
This fall season I’m seriously mad for plaid. I titled this post Coat Check because it seems like so many retailers this season are offering dope coats, jackets and ponchos in these bold check patterns that really make a statement.
It’s often the only thing people see you in whether you’re cruising the subway or walking the city streets. And it’s the first thing people see when you walk through the door! You should have different ones for different occasions but if you can only have one – get one that you LOVE.
What I really liked about this Throw On Coat from ASOS is it’s ease. It was perfect for in-between fall/winter weather because you literally just throw it on – no buttons and no zips. I’ve been layering it with my infinity scarf and long-sleeved turtlenecks underneath.
It also works really well dressed up for evening events with a dress and heels or dressed down with acid-wash jeans like this particular look.
Here at LBS we’ve touched on everything from deep conditioners to our favorite curly cocktails. If you haven’t noticed by now one of the main messages we are pushing on the site is moisture and protection. With the temps slowly dropping it is imperative that we keep our curls hydrated. In one of our recent post we shared 6 ways to rock a hat with your natural hair. This week we are sharing 4 ways to rock turbans in the winter. Although this is a very popular style for warm summer nights don’t freight, we are showing how to pull off this look all year long. Turbans are a great way to protect your hair while staying cute and warm! If you are a visual learning keep reading to see the tutorial on Fatima’s Youtube Channel.
At LBS we’re obviously obsessed with all things H&M. Christina’s NYFW Style Essentials series was practically and advertisement for H&M’s fall collection. When it comes to trendy and affordable pieces, they are a leader in the fast fashion industry. H&M has set themselves apart with their annual designer collaborations. We’ve swooned over their past collections with designers like Versace, Marni, and Maison Martin Margiela. These collections have a higher price point than typical H&M pieces but obviously considerably lower than retail prices for these luxury designers. That being said, we’re bubbling over with excitement for H&M’s latest collaboration with Alexander Wang, which is set to release in select stores and online tomorrow!
Manhattan’s Lincoln Center is considered the absolute center of New York Fashion Week. It is abuzz with fashion editors and bloggers decked in their trendiest digs, celebrities seeking inspiration for red carpets and a mixture of vendors, coordinators and other couture enthusiasts. Yet, we’re in a fashion season where Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, and a series of other elite designers defected from Lincoln Center in favor of intimate venues in several boroughs, including Brooklyn.
We can’t get enough of the dramatic makeup and hair for Fashion Week. Since we have the backstage scoop to some of your favorite designers, we’re bringing Edwing D’Angelo’s Fall 2014 collection personally to you.
Camp sites, mountain trails and other outdoors activities aren’t often considered ideal spaces for chic fashion attire. We tell ourselves we should value comfort over style when we’re walking, kicking around a soccer ball, or enjoying the treats Mother Nature offers. Lacoste’s fall/winter 2014 collection tells us differently. Sporty can be fashionable, especially when alterations are made for comfort.
There isn’t anything more exhilarating than Fashion Week madness, but we love the craziness backstage and we’ve got the inside beauty scoop for you from duo designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais’ Ruffian.
Few designers are willing to evolve season after season, especially when their signature aesthetic elicits audible gasps and other sounds of delight from fervent audiences. Christian Siriano is shattering that mold. The Project Runway-alum is committed to elevating his fashion instincts, even as his success sends entertainment’s elite – like Maisie Williams (who better slay!) and June Ambrose – to his front row.
