Every year I make time out of my busy schedule to sit down and either watch or attend the Black Girls Rock! awards ceremony. I’ve attended three times over the course of my career and have watched it air on BET Network every single year. It is such an empowering and encouraging awards ceremony. It’s all about women of color, young and old, their contributions to the community and groundbreaking actions that push society forward in one way or another. Presented by Lincoln Motor Company, this luncheon celebrates the talented women of color in the movie and television industries. Our Editor-in-Chief, Christina, was there with all of the biggest black names in Hollywood to celebrate their accomplishments and even got to meet Oprah! Last week, The 2015 NAACP Image Awards presented by TV One aired on live television. This year the attendants all seems to be right on trend rocking soft palettes of  blush hues, ivories and subtle smokey eyes. Keep reading to see our favorite picks from the NAACP Image Awards.

 Kerry Washington: Ms.Olivia Pope always gets it right, both on and off the screen! The Scandal star dazzled in a crimson red lace gown, delicate jewelry and a soft beat to compliment the look. She opted for a subtle smokey eye and rose pink pout. Her beautiful bronze glowing skin tied the look together effortlessly. She kept her hair simple and understated, pulling it back to show off her beautiful bone structure.

Angela Bassett: She was definitely one of  our favorites of the night! Angela Bassett’s look was more dramatic than most, but still very elegant! She served us a fierce dose of sculpted arms, defined eyes and a sleek bob. To compliment her bold eye look she rocked a beautiful taupe shade of lipstick paired with a brown liner on her lips. To pull it all together she went with a plum blush and a subtle golden highlight to accent her beautiful cheekbones.

Teyonah Parris: Princess Teyona definitely knows how to pull off an up-do! This naturalista stunned in a beautiful golden gown, intricate up-do, bronzed skin and a natural makeup look. This beauty tends to keep her makeup very simple letting her hair and dress get all the shine.

Tracee Ellis Ross: Tracee stepped up the glam in true “Ross” fashion with a bold red lip, a plum smokey eye and a voluminous curly fro. Although her eye and lip combo is a bit unexpected, it works well with her sexy ivory beaded lace gown.
