So my blogger buddies Jessica of Glamazons Blog, Lexi of LexiWithTheCurls and I decided this #FABFriday to rock the same white dress from Modcloth in different ways. With Labor Day on the horizon, I know many of you will be rocking your last of summer whites. I decided to take this white lace dress and show you how I would wear it to achieve a professional/modest look after Labor Day.
1. Opt for outerwear in a darker color. It makes for a great contrast to white and can instantly bring your look from summer into fall.
2. Don’t be afraid to keep it fun with color. Just because summer is over doesn’t mean the thrill is gone. Keep the color party going even when transitioning to cooler seasons by adding in pops of color with your accessories.
3. Forget about the “No White After Labor Day” rule. Seriously this rule is so outdated. Wear white whenever you feel like it!

It took me a while to get comfortable with posting pictures of myself in a bathing suit. Whether it was on my personal social media pages or right here on the blog, I’ve always been so self-conscious about baring it all in either a one-piece (with my thick thighs on display) or a two-piece (that literally shows every curve. But what I’ve found is that there are certain silhouettes that are super flattering for my body. And since figuring that out, I ONLY wear those types of suits. Here are some of my personal favorites:
1. The V-Neck One-Piece Suit
The reason a V-Neck suit works so well for me is mainly because of my bust. I have breasts that are large in proportion to the rest of my body, so the most flattering cuts for me are actually v-neck. I aim for suits that have support but still emphasize my assets. I’m also big on prints (obviously) so this suit from Joe Fresh was absolutely perfect. It has a belt to cinch me in at the waist as well, which is the key to appearing slimmer.
2. The High Waisted Two-Piece
High-waisted swimsuits are perfect for those of us who want to hide our midsection and instead accentuate the legs and a slim waist. I really love my legs and my best attributes are all about my waist, so the high-waisted suit is perfect. It gives a little retro chic while still working for many different body types and allowing you to be conservative where you need it most.
3. The Little Black Suit
When all else fails, go with a black suit! It’s slimming on every body type, it matches all accessories and it’s a swimsuit must-have, whether you opt for a two-piece or a one piece. The suit above is from Old Navy. I snagged it at least 2 years ago and it’s still going strong. Here I am wearing it on my recent trip to the Bahamas. This silhouette is perfect for my shape and the rouching on it hides imperfections. Win- win.

When it comes to closet staples, there are quite a few pieces that I consider non-negotiable in a fashionista’s closet. Blazers, tailored pants and a great-fitting dress are three of those staples. I have each of these pieces in white because it’s a classic color, easy to mix and match and it looks so crisp and clean!
In case you’re wondering how you can incorporate a white piece into your wardrobe (outside of the classic white oxford), here’s how to do it, featuring some simple pieces that you can easily find at your favorite store:
Happy Friday guys! Super stoked for the long holiday weekend. For you ladies who might be looking to experiment a little this weekend, this week’s Fashion And BeautyFriday (#FABFriday) look is orange lips! I’ll be completely honest, when I found out this week’s themes was orange lips I was a little scared. I’ve only worn orange lipstick once and I honestly never stray far away from red or pink. But I was pleasantly surprised! Check out how I got the look:
So first let’s start with the main products. I decided to experiment with two different shades. The first is from LiSi Cosmetics. You guys may remember this brand from my nail polish launch a few years ago. I used their lipstick in SUPERSTAR which is a deep orangey-brown nude color and way less intimidating than most oranges.
This week’s Fashion And Beauty Friday (#FABFriday) post is about tribal prints. There are so many different interpretations of this look, I wasn’t even sure which outfit to post about! But the cool thing is that because the tribal printed theme is so undefined and open to interpretation, you can rock the trend any way you like.
Happy Friday loves! This week for Fashion And Beauty Friday (#FABFriday), it’s all about the crop top. The weather is warming up and it’s time to bare a little skin. If you’ve been a ride-or-die LBS follower since back back in the day, you probably remember my LBS Chic: Black Butterfly outfit post from a few years back. It’s one of my faves!
Anyway, back then I rocked this H&M crop top with a long flowing skirt and wedges. For someone like me who doesn’t have the flattest midsection (and hates bringing attention to it), a long high-waisted skirt does the trick.
It allows me to rock the style without being uncomfortable or baring more skin than I want to.
It’s crazy that this post is 4 years old and crop tops are still in the summertime rotation. Some things are just closet staples that never go out of style!

Happy Fashion And Beauty Friday folks! This week’s #FABFriday theme is leather skirts. We had so much fun with last week’s Red Lip theme. This week we decided to live life on the wild side by showing you guys how we wear leather skirts. Everyone of course is familiar with the closet staple – leather jackets. But other items like leather skirts, dresses and even pants are a little more difficult to intertwine in your wardrobe. Here’s how I rock my favorite faux leather skirt from ASOS:
The great thing about this leather skirt is that it’s an A-line silhouette which works wonders for me considering I’m 10 weeks post baby birth.
I still have a small tummy pudge so anything A-line is my best friend right now.
I decided to rock this look with some of my new favorite maroon-colored accessories.
These sneaker wedges I scored for only $30 at HauteLook and this beautiful suede cross-body bag the folks at Paula & Chlo sent me by Aimee Kestenberg.
The Aimee Kestenberg Sammy Crossbodyis the perfect grab & go bag. Now that i’m juggling a newborn, diaper bags and more I can’t really rock the oversized handbags as often. This one is compact and adds a nice pop of color to my leggings-and-graphic-tee “new mommy” uniform of late.

If there’s one beauty must-have you guys know I can’t live without (besides mascara, of course) it’s my red lipstick. I used to be incredibly scared to try bold lip colors, but wearing red lipstick for the first time helped get rid of my fear and I’ve been a fan of it ever since. If I’m heading out for a night on the town or even a business meeting, I cannot leave home without it. I wrote a whole post about it in my LBS Beauty: The Perfect Red Lippost.
It only makes sense that for #FABFriday (Fashion And Beauty Friday) , we’d include links to how we each rock our own red lipstick for day, night and everything in between. No matter what skin complexion you are, there’s a great shade for you and you CAN wear a red lippie without looking crazy (I promise!)
Happy Friday guys! Myself and a few of my blogger friends have decided to join together and start a weekly post in which we show off how we rock different trends. Everybody has that one item in their closet or beauty cabinet that they just won’t pull out because they’re not sure how exactly to wear it. What better way to get inspiration? Take a look at how other people do it.
So I’ve teamed up with Jessica of Glamazons Blog and Lexi of LexiWithTheCurls to start the Fashion And Beauty Friday (#FabFriday) style post series. On Fridays, we want to see how YOU guys rock different trends. If you have a blog or website, you can join in too! Simply include a link to your post in the #FabFriday widget down below. First up is stripes!
For curvy girls (especially those that are top heavy like me), the key to rocking horizontal stripes is doing them in a silhouette that plays up your assets. For me, because I’m top eavy, I aim for v-neck tops – they’re slimming, they elongate my neckline and they allow for just a hint of boobage (any more and it becomes R-rated…real quick).
