If you didn’t watch the SAG Awards 2015 Red Carpet last night, you certainly missed out on some great style! These ladies were giving me life in their stunning gowns, flawless hair and makeup. Usually Hollywood goes all out for the Oscars and the SAG Awards Red Carpet doesn’t get much love. I’m so glad the ladies stepped their game up this year. Of course, there were some not-so-hot looks–you can check out my Twitter timeline for the tea. Keep reading for details on the best Red Carpet looks!
Actress Lupita Nyong’o’s reign just won’t let up. After winning an Academy Award for her superb debut role as Patsey in “12 Years a Slave,” landing a coveted spokesmodel contract with Lancôme Paris and setting red carpets from New York to Paris ablaze, People Magazine’s named Nyong’o their “Most Beautiful.”
Nyong’o graces the cover of People’s May issue, an honor that’s previously been bestowed on starlets and supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Julia Roberts, Halle Berry and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
In her candid interview with People, Nyong’o said she “never dreamed” of being named “Most Beautiful.”
There is no doubt that Lupita Nyong’o has cast a spell on Hollywood and the world. The Academy Award-winning actress has catapulted to the top of best-dressed lists, A-lists and fashion-muses list, and she is basking in the moment. Given the few roles available for female actresses of color, Nyong’o’s success beyond 12 Years a Slave is in flux. Our fixation with her is not.
Despite Hollywood’s flightiness, there’s no limit to the fashion greatness in Nyong’o’s future. She earned a coveted spot as the face of Miu Miu’s spring advertising campaign. Additionally, she’s been featured on the covers and in the pages of W, Dujour, Dazed & Confused, New York Magazine, the Hollywood Reporter and Vanity Fair.

This morning I woke up to my Facebook timeline ablaze with images of actress Lupita Nyong’o. We’ve professed our love for Lupita on LoveBrownSugar before so of course I was excited to see that my girl Lupes (that’s what I call her as my BFF in my head) is still on the circuit. She is heavy on the tip of everyone’s tongue after her grandiose and utterly beautiful red carpet debut at the Golden Globes this past weekend.

To my disappointment though, my timeline was not filled with big-ups and congratulations for Lupita but instead with rage and anger over what I’m sure will be the first of many “scandals” surrounding Lupita’s skin color. According to sources like Huffington Post, elite fashion publication Vanity Fair released a sneak peek picture of Lupita being featured in an upcoming editorial yesterday evening, and fans are in uproar because it appears as if her skin has been lightened. Welp, sad to say but I was waiting for this tragic moment to happen.
