The Brown Girls Love Fashion Week series is off to an amazing start! Keep submitting your posts via the #browngirlsLOVEfw hashtag on Instagram so we can feature your NYFW street style.
The next Brown Girls Love Fashion Week street style star to be featured is self-proclaimed Fashion Storyteller, Jennifer Nnamani.
Inspired by both Audrey Hepburn and the style of all the women in her Nigerian family, Jennifer tends to mix the classic with the eclectic, as seen by the juxtaposition of her lace top with a draped and printed skirt. Her love for fashion drove her to start her own eco-focused fashion communications agency, Beau Monde Society. With this agency, Jennifer hopes to make changes in fast fashion brands to help preserve the environment. This Brown Girl Loves Fashion Week, and the world we live in too!
What are your thoughts on Jennifer’s mix of classic and eclectic elements?
Fashion Week continues and with it comes our next feature for “Brown Girls LOVE Fashion Week“ : the historically inspiring Otaymah Bonds. Fully clad in her lovely outfit and brilliant umbrella, Otaymah quotes history and the past as her springboard for fashion.
Jade: the wardrobe stylist, the thrifter, the girl in the polka dot dress.
The only thing more eye-catching than her attire is her contagious smile. We couldn’t help but snag a photo and get the deets on her unique look.
The next feature in the Street Style series “Brown Girls LOVE Fashion Week” is freelance designer and stylist, Hailie Ryan. Conversing in Lincoln Center beside the waterfall, Hailie immediately caught our eye in a gold sequin embroidered crop top and a crown of curly hair. When asked about her look, she proudly told us that everything she had on was thrifted and cost her no more than $10! She also owns an online store, The G2 Collections. Check it out for some unique looks!
The first feature in our new street style series “Brown Girls LOVE Fashion Week” is 26-year-old, Kia Denise. A city girl, fashion stylist and blogger, Kia looks for comfort and ease in her attire, as seen in this fabulous and flowing lace ensemble.

NYFW Style Essentials
So every year season I trot back and forth to shows in my flyest season’s best and I get SO busy and bogged down with work that I barely get a chance to show you guys what I’m wearing! This season I’ll have a NYFW Style Essentials Series going with a list of the closet essentials I typically wear to Fashion Week and how YOU can make similar pieces work for your everyday wardrobe. What’s a cute outfit if you can’t get some leverage out of it in your closet right? Stay tuned for the first post tomorrow, which will be my version of a Little Black Dress.
LBS Backstage Beauty
As always, we’ll be bringing you live NYFW coverage from behind-the-scenes backstage. Everything from hair trends, nail looks, makeup and more.
