Classic Man Crush Monday: Singer and Songwriter Vin Keatin

vin 7

The second I saw Vin Keatin begin to slay his opening set at Verizon’s The Big Payback my head filled with three words “WHO. IS. THAT?” Nearly fifteen minutes my question was answered as the former young boy from the Bronx had made a permanent impression. Recently I had the chance to chat with this charming crooner about motivation, being a student of the game, and why patience is his most powerful asset.

What is your definition of a classic man?

A man that doesn’t look to follow trends and creates their own lane. A man who is passionate, about his goals, dreams and desires. A man that is focused and does things with a little flair.

What makes a classic woman?

A classic  woman is an Ambitious, goal-oriented, God fearing woman that is passionate about what they’re doing and doesn’t need validation from anybody.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

Life is my biggest inspiration. In terms of a person I would have to say my mom. My dad has always been in my life but my mom really established my work ethic.

What is your greatest motivation?

I think everything I do is so one day I can tell my mom you don’t have to work anymore.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a performer?

I would be talking to kids teaching them to dream and aspire no matter where they’re from. So maybe I would have an arts program teaching kids.

Is giving back important to you?

It is, because I believe when you learn something you teach it.  You give back. That’s how the future is made.

How has patience helped you in your career?

Everything doesn’t work on your time. It works on God’s time. When you want to grow and you’re working on something there’s a lot of repetition. In vocal lessons there’s a lot of repetition. It teaches you patience because progress doesn’t happen overnight it’s a process.

What makes you unique as an artist?

The vulnerability I’m willing to bring forth in my music. I’m willing to share that and not be scared or look at it as a weakness. It’s actually a strength. I put my soul on display.
