Kerry Washington is SLAYING on the November cover of Essence Magazine! Aside from the fact that we’re all twirling in circles in anticipation for this Thursday’s season premiere of Scandal, I’m overjoyed to see Kerry Washington gracing the cover of Essence because this has been such an epic year for her.
In the issue, she discusses the importance of playing the role of Olivia Pope and the impact it’s having on the American audience. “They are allowing an educated, intelligent, powerful, complicated, human, flawed, multidimensional Black woman into their homes. They’re not walking past her on the street, they’re not trying to avoid engaging her, they’re not ignoring her and pretending she’s somebody else’s family and somebody else’s problem…”—Kerry Washington, ESSENCE.
I personally think she was robbed at the Emmy’s but she landed her first Emmy nomination, she’s been on countless magazine covers for her starring role, and she even got (secretly) married! Kerry is doing it big.
And can we talk about this dazzling gold look she’s rocking on the cover?? I die!
