Dazzling actress Lupita Nyong’o is continuing her “it” girl reign in ESSENCE magazine’s March issue. Nyong’o – breakout star of 12 Years a Slave – is featured in the publication’s beauty section. She reveals how she achieves her gorgeous glow and also explains how life-altering her Academy Award nomination is.
“My stomach was in knots,” Nyong’o said. “I broke out in a cold sweat. It was like being on a roller coaster. I screamed so loud when I heard my name and then I started to cry.”
Twelve Years a Slave is Nyong’o’s first feature role, but her chic wardrobe is quickly elevating her to the A-list. She’s been tapped for Miu Miu’s spring/summer advertising campaign, and will also pose for VOGUE Italia.
ESSENCE Magazine’s March issue honors the work of actors of color, including Oprah Winfrey, Michael B. Jordan, and Forrest Whitaker. Lupita Nyong’o is deserving of inclusion. ESSENCE Magazine will also honor Nyong’o as the “best breakthrough performance” at their annual black women in Hollywood luncheon.
