Dove Salon Day Hair Cut Dairies + Giveaway

A few weeks ago Christina & I had the pleasure of getting our hair styled by talented celebrity stylist Cynthia Alvarez at the Dove Salon Day. I had been considering getting a short tapered cut for a few months. My hair long natural hair had gotten boring and and required a lot of maintenance. I was craving for a fresh new look that would allow me to keep my curls, but eliminate some of the styling time. Keep reading to see my entire transformation using the Dove Quench Absolute line.

First step, was an consultation by Cynthia. We talked about how much hair I wanted cut off and about some of my style inspirations. The idea was to have lots of curls and height on top with a gradual tapered effect on the sides.

Next, my hair was thoroughly cleansed using the nourishing shampoo. Followed by that my hair was detangled and deep conditioned with the deep treatment mask. After about 5-10 mins the product was washed out and my hair felt silky smooth. I absolutely love this deep conditioner because it detangles and hydrates at the same time.

Products Used On My Hair:

After towel drying for a few minutes, Cynthia began to section off my hair into 3 parts. She started to cut my hair on the sides first and she gradually worked her way to the middle.

Since my hair doesn’t have a lot of curl definition in the front Cynthia then had her team of stylists set my hair into a perm rod set. Using the dove supreme creme serum and a holding gel. Once my hair was set I had to sit under the dryer for about an hour to ensure that my hair was completely dry.

The final step was the take down and styling process. Cynthia used a small amount of a hair oil to remove the perm rods and style my hair. After a few more snips I finally had the haircut I desired!

  1. I #lovemycurls because I’m easy to spot in a crowd! They add texture to my hair.

  2. After years of trying to be something I am clearly not (a low self esteem is a terrible thing to have, but thankfully I’ve grown past once having that), I #lovemycurls , coils n kinks because they are a part of who I am, they make me ME. As a young girl I thought everything that a person or persons pointed out as “ugly” or displeasing (to them) about myself, absolutely NEEDED to be fixed. My hair was one of things. Even though my hair rebelled like nobody’s business to changes I made (relaxers, curly perms, blond highlights via bleach (yikes!!!!)) to make it “pretty”or “presentable, ya girl kept the changes coming. My hair would rebel and I would demand its submission, and it would rebel again. Vicious cycle. Finally when it had had enough, was this close to losing it thanks to a relaxer gone wrong. I was, in a sense, forced to go natural. But it was a move I will never EVER regret. I look like myself, feel comfortable WITH myself, and the work I once had to put in to reach a beauty standard to make others “comfortable” I no longer feel bound to (hey, my bank account is happier too! Lol) I feel free, to be honest. Finally embracing my hair as is, has freed me.
