Essence has chosen to honor four chic individuals for their Second Annual Street Style awards. Sponsored by Chevy, Sheamoisture, and Home Depot and taking place immediately after the Essence Street Style Block Party these awards are intended to honor those are putting a fresh face on fashion.

Labeled this year’s  “Style Disruptor” Jason Rembert has taken his bold perspective to the red carpets styling Rita Ora, Solange, Asap Rocky, Erykah Badu, Taraji P. Henson and more. At just twenty-seven years old he’s landed a spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s 25 Top Stylists list. Despite his success he’s determined never to disrupt the learning process advising new stylists to check their ego and “be a lifelong intern!”. We can’t wait to see what else this talent has in store.

Actress, Gabrielle Union (Link to Christina’s Neutrogena piece) has been labeled this year’s “Closet Crush”. The star shares her sexy sense of style with her on screen alter-ego Mary Jane Paul of BET’s “Being Mary Jane”. Like Mary Jane Gabrielle knows how to grab attention without going to extremes. She she clearly knows a thing or two about showing off her curves in the spotlight Union states that what really makes her feel glamorous is getting a compliment from “someone who loves and cares about me”.

Parsons graduate Charles Elliott Harbison is definitely going places. Launching his first Womens Wear collection in 2013 Essence’s “Designer to Watch” has received favorable reviews from publications like The New York Times. Recently he received the ultimate stamp of approval when Solange and Beyonce began showing up in his classically cool clothing. The influence of “quirk and romance” from his personal style gives his aesthetic a fun yet flirtatious kick.
