Styling your hair in a perm rod set is a great way to add extra curls and definition to your natural texture. This style works great on both natural hair and relaxed hair. This is also a great way to transition if you are just starting your natural hair journey. When I was transitioning from heat damage I found that perm rods were a great way to blend the two textures of my hair without doing protective styles. If you are interested in learning how to do this quick and easy style keep reading!

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Wide Tooth Comb
Perm Rods
Moisturizer
Styling Gel

Step 1: Cleanse & Prep
Start by sectioning your hair into 3-4 larger sections. For best results I prefer to start on clean damp hair. You can do it on wet hair, but keep in mind that will require more drying time.

Step 2: Moisturize
Apply a dime sized amount of your favorite moisturizer onto your hair from roots to tips. Make sure you thoroughly apply the product all over each section to ensure that your hair is properly moisturized.

Step 3: Apply A Styler
Take a small section of hair and apply your styling gel of choice. Use your styling gel sparingly as most gels tend to leave residue behind if used improperly.

Step 4: Set It
Wrap that small section o hair and wrap it around the rod creating a spiral effect. Repeat this step until your entire head has been set. Wrapping the hair in a spiral will create more definition and an elongated curl. This also aids in quicker drying time.

Step 5: Drying
If you plan to sit under a hooded dryer apply a light heat protectant. If not, simply tie your hair for bed with a satin scarf and let it air dry over night.

Step 6: The Takedown
Apply a tiny bit of your favorite oil to your hands and gently remove the perm rods from your hair.

Quick Tips:
– Deep condition for at least 10 mins to ensure your hair is hydrated
– Make sure your hair is throughly detangled before installing rods for silky smooth results
– Ensure that your hair is 100% dry before removing the rods or you will create frizz
-Sleep with your hair in a high ponytail(the pineapple) or with a satin pillowcase to preserve this style at night
