FAB Friday: How To Wear Orange Lipstick

how-to-wear-orange-lipstickHappy Friday guys! Super stoked for the long holiday weekend. For you ladies who might be looking to experiment a little this weekend, this week’s Fashion And BeautyFriday (#FABFriday) look is orange lips! I’ll be completely honest, when I found out this week’s themes was orange lips I was a little scared. I’ve only worn orange lipstick once and I honestly never stray far away from red or pink. But I was pleasantly surprised! Check out how I got the look:

You guys may remember this brand from my nail polish launch a few years ago. I used their lipstick in SUPERSTAR which is a deep orangey-brown nude color and way less intimidating than most oranges.

The IMAN Cosmetics Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick in HOT is very bright for my complexion. So I actually layered it on top of the orangey-brown nude from LiSi, just so I could get my perfect shade. If you’re lighter in skin tone than I am, you might actually like the bright tone. But if you want it less intense, layer it on top of another more muted color.

Next, I applied just a little eye makeup. I picked a neutral gold from my Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette. And I layered MAC Cosmetics Fluidline eyeliner in BlackTrack and MAC Cosmetics False Lashes in Extreme Black. After doing that, I applied the first orange from LiSi Cosmetics. See below:

It’s obviously orange but it’s pretty subtle and not too bright.

This is a great way to ease into the orange lip trend without being too bold. If you want an even brighter and punchier orange, layer the Iman Cosmetics Lipstick in HOT on top. See below:

There’s a subtle different here. What I really like about the Iman Cosmetics lippie is the fact that it’s so creamy and moisturizing. I’m used to wearing pretty matte lipsticks so this was a nice change.

This one is fun for a night on the town. And I actually like how it looks despite my initial reservations about orange lips.
