Kickin’ It: 2015 #NOLACrawl Style Suite Presented by Dove

nolacrawl-style-suite-2015It seems surreal that just 3 days ago I co-hosted the second annual #NOLACrawl Style Suite and that what was just a small, organic way for a handful of bloggers to come together has slowly morphed into an epic annual event during Essence Festival. I’m so honored to have had the opportunity to co-host this event with a presenting sponsor like Dove.

Most of my personal friends, family members and readers (you guys) swear by Dove products. I have been using their trusted body products for as long as I can remember and it comes at no surprise that when they decided to launch a product line for curly girls like us that they did so with a purposeful and meaningful campaign.

The #LoveYourCurls campaign has to be one of my favorites to date because not only did Dove create a line for curls but they did it in a way that celebrates and empowers women who historically have not felt their hair was beautiful.

Myself and my fellow style influencers like Jessica, Lexi, Taren and Kimberly have all created our own platforms to empower and inspire women who have been forgotten by the mainstream media. So it was the absolute perfect way to kick off our second year hosting the #NOLACrawl Style Suite and was also such a humbling experience to know that we are helping to catapult the #LoveYourCurls message to women everywhere.

Women from all over the country converged in New Orleans for Essence Fest and came out to our event to support us and also to learn more about Dove’s Quench Absolute collection. There was a full blown Dove dry styling bar hosted by celebrity stylist Cynthia Alvarez.

Cynthia actually styled my curls for the event, and let me tell you, she made me look and feel SO beautiful. There’s something so special about a hairstylist’s touch. There’s an energy exchange that happens when someone agrees to pamper your strands. Cynthia helped put me at ease before our event and I literally got compliments the entire day from her brilliant work.

The space looked absolutely beautiful and was decked from corner to corner with Dove Quench Absolute products, their title hardcopy book “Love Your Curls” penned by Taiye Selasi (wrote about that here!) and delicately placed Dove accents like cupcakes and branded pillows. It was so amazing.

What I loved more than anything was seeing how many amazing women came through the doors of the Royal Sonesta Hotel and left feeling uplifted and absolutely beautiful after being pampered by the amazing Dove style team.

Guests were also treated to mini manicures at our nail bar sponsored by Polish & Co.

In addition to our guests, some of our good blogger and vlogger friends stopped by to support.

All in all I had an amazing time at the event and LOVED meeting so many of you in New Orleans during Essence Fest. This year was so special for us and we couldn’t have done it without all of your support!
