Kickin’ It: TriBeCa Film Festival with Lincoln Black Label Series

Last week I got the opportunity to experience quite a few new things thanks to Lincoln Motor Company. Lincoln and its partner brand Ford are friends of the LoveBrownSugar family. You might recall that I attended my very first BET Awards back in 2012 courtesy of Ford and that I attended this year’s Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon for the very first time as a guest of Lincoln.

Well last week, they gave me the pleasure of attending my very first TriBeca Film Festival! Growing up in NYC, I’d always heard about the festival and that it often brings out a myriad of celebrities including musicians, actors and actresses that are featured in these independent films.

I’m not a huge film buff but I can always appreciate works of art that people put their hearts and souls into. There’s something very special about film and I appreciate the storytelling aspect of it because I consider myself a visual and written storyteller as well.

MUST-READ: Essence Black Women in Hollywood with Lincoln

At the festival, I got the opportunity to meet & interview celebs on the red carpet like Gloria Reuben (remember her from ER?!), Sam Waterston and Jennifer Connelly.

I saw two films – “Anesthesia” and “Aloft”. Both were incredible and featured some really talented artists. It was really great being on the carpet on behalf of Lincoln.

Lincoln picked me up from my home in their brand new 2015 Lincoln MKZ – Black Label. It was SO luxe. Venetian leather interior, premium wood in the interior trims, sharp details and overall superior craftmanship. I felt like a BOSS in that car.

The Lincoln Black Label series has four interior themes – all different and all beautiful. My car was the “Center Stage” theme (perfect for TriBeca Film Festival, right?)

Center Stage is inspired by the drama of theater arts and fashion and includes a Jet Black cabin with Foxfire Red accent stitching on the doors and seats.

What’s really cool about the Lincoln Black Label series is that it’s not just the look and feel of the car but there’s a personal service layer to it as well. Owners receive personalized shopping and special privileges, with dedicated personnel and customized service in their Black Label showrooms, online or they’ll even pay you a visit at home or your office! Acting as a personal shopping assistant, Black Label liaisons help customers identify their ideal vehicle by sharing paint samples, material swatches and wood trim samples.

Think of your favorite personal shoe shopper at Saks – in your home, helping you detail your perfect car. (I can’t help it. Everything in life comes back to shoes.)

Lincoln’s brand is all about luxury and even though most of my closet pieces are affordable, I’m the type of girl who likes a luxury piece here and there as a closet staple. I’m always about investing in quality pieces that you want to last forever. Similarly, when it comes to day to day items (like your vehicle of choice), I think you should have something you’re proud to ride around in.

What I Wore: Night 1 “Anesthesia” Screening

The first night I attended the festival, the screening was scheduled for 9pm so I decided to wear a nice evening/cocktail look. I threw on a little black dress from ASOS and my fave red heels from Just Fab. I accented the look with silver and crystal jewels.

What I Wore: Night 2 “Aloft” Screening

The “Aloft” screening took place on a Friday afternoon around 5pm so I decided to have a little fun and throw on a nice weekend look. I wore head to toe Boohoo – this super fun jumpsuit I snagged last summer plus creme colored wedges.

Overall I had such a blast with Lincoln! I have a newfound appreciation for independent films and I would totally attend more TriBeca Film Festival screenings in the future.
