Kickin’ It: Wendy Williams Show With Kmart

This week was busy to say the least. Between planning ShopLoveBrownSugar (coming this December!) to finishing up the program for BrownGirlsLove Brunch (Philly) this weekend and then chasing after Cadence in between, I had quite the tiring week. One of the highlights, though, was getting to attend the Wendy Williams Show as a guest of Kmart this past Monday. It was my first time attending! Not only did I witness Wendy’s talent live and in action, but I also walked away with an incredible experience and a newfound respect for all that her and her production team do to keep the machine that is “The Wendy Williams Show” running.

I think Wendy is absolutely hilarious and I appreciate her bold honesty and emotion. I think she’s one of the most authentic celebrity hosts on air and that’s why people love her so much. Well, as part of the amazing surprises and delights you receive as a guest of Wendy’s show, Wendy partnered up with Kmart for the promotion of their Bluelight Special relaunch to give away some AMAZING prizes to the studio audience.

In case you guys don’t remember the good ol’ days, Kmart used to run these Bluelight Specials that were basically super quick and insanely cheap deals on products in their stores for a limited time. So, for example, Wendy did a segment at a local Kmart with two contestants who had to run and grab multiple items at Kmart on Wendy’s holiday list. During the course of the competition, Kmart ran a Bluelight Special for a Jaclyn Smith comforter that was originally $119.99 and marked down to only $19.99!! Did you read that? Less than $20 for a comforter set. The catch? Only available for 15 minutes. It’s pretty dope.

And even better, you don’t actually have to be in-store to catch the Bluelight Specials as they’re now available on Kmart.com and on the Kmart app as well, while supplies last. So Wendy actually gave all the guests in her studio audience a $100 Kmart gift card AND the mattress that they marked down for the Bluelight Special! I almost fainted.

Considering the fact that I’m decorating a new home, the comforter couldn’t have come at a better time. I couldn’t find a picture of the one we received, but there’s a pic of a really nice one from the same collection.

Anyway, for those of you starting to think about your holiday shopping routes, don’t count Kmart out. They’re running some pretty great specials during this season.

Ok, so let’s be honest – how many of you spotted me on the Wendy Show? I DVR’d it obviously because I had to show my mama I was on TV! I wore a pink dress so I would stand out. If you’re going to make your small screen debut, gotta look good right?
