Lead Makeup Artist Victor Cembellin and the MAC PRO team used the makeup look during the Academy of Art University Spring 2015 show as an opportunity to really let the clothing have the spotlight.
Victor used a mixture of neutral shades in brown and grey to tone down the overall look this season. The signature product to creating this makeup look is a cream based eyeshadow by MAC called “Dust” .
The color helps enhance the natural stain or pigmentation around the eye. Creating a look similar to the women from multicultural & ethnic backgrounds. Victor tells us,
We decided to do matte skin, really sculpted cheek bone with a little bit of a haunting look to it, with a creamy color to create a lived in greasy stained smokey eye while playing with each girl’s natural skin tone. So each model is getting her own version of this look.

Victor mixed the two shades above to create this statement look. For darker skin tones he incorporated a dark brown pencil to help really bring out those brown stains around the eye. He really wanted to showcase that “imperfections” can be beautiful.
“We’re so conditioned to conceal everything and make it all one color, but when you bring it out it actually makes your eyes look brighter.”
Since the Academy of Art University MAC Spring 2015 features several different designers, the Mac Pro team decided to keep the same look on all the models. Victor wanted the show to feel connected and the simple makeup really allowed the clothing & hair to be the focus of the show.
This matte neutral look was a great compliment to the minimalistic designs and the sleek hair of the Academy of Art University Spring 2015 collection.
