Backstage at the Harlem’s Fashion Row Spring 2015 show, we got the inside scoop on all the hair looks carefully crafted by celebrity stylist Keith Campbell for Design Essentials. As hair lead, Keith used a myriad of Design Essentials products to suit the hair looks for the various collections that were presented from Byron Lars to K. Milele, Josh & Nicol and Harlem Haberdashery.

Here’s what Keith had to tell us:

The inspiration behind the K. Milele line is very edgy and girly. It’s about going against the grain, being unorthodox. So we did a milkmaid braid and fishtail braids to compliment the designs.

We thought that it would go well with the personality of the girl. She’s tatted up, unique, someone you’re not typically going to see on the runway.

The Design Essentials Natural Defining Creme Gel was great for the girls who already had texture in their hair. They wanted to keep and just enhance the overall curl for these particular styles.

The other collection’s style is a low ponytail with a part down the middle because they wanted everything to be focused on the garment. The Design Essentials Sleek Max Edge Control has a nice soft hold which was great for the low ponytail.

Then there’s Byron’s collection. We did a pompadour focused on alot of volume and texture and height. It’s very editorial and high fashion.
