New York Fashion Week isn’t complete without a backstage nail art report. LBS got exclusive behind the scenes access to the Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014 show. Rebecca Minkoff teamed up with Essie to deliver runway-ready manis for the catwalk. Essie lead nail artist Michelle Saunders explains the looks below.

“We’re doing something super fun. We’re doing nail art on four accent nails. Two on each hand, randomly selected. What’s really fun about the nail art is that it’s Mexican Folk Art-inspired. Very Frida Kahlo. Very ethnic and exotic. ‘What would she do on her nails?’”

“The color that we’re doing on the hands and feet is called Tart Deco. It’s a really super bright creamy coral. And it’s actually a color that matches to her collection exactly. We picked it out from one of her pieces.”
