LBS Backstage Beauty: Libertine

libertine with text

This season the energy at Libertine was chic yet carefree. Easy waves and relaxed swoops took over the runway as the TGI Catwalk team created casual styles that allowed for movement with the adding of a slight lift at the crown. The CND team took inspiration from the fun frocks and vibrant color choices to form stoic yet bold nail art that every fashionista will want to try out this season.

If you want to perfect the art of looking charmingly undone. Read further to find out how Thomas Osborn, Jan Arnold, and their teams brought life to the Libertine beauty look.

Hair

Get The Look:

  • Prep hair with CATWALK by TIGI Blow Out Balm to achieve smoothness and shine. Using the tail end of a comb, create a severe side-part
  • Blow dry hair with a round brush, lifting the hair at the roots and smoothing through the ends to create volume at the crown. Direct hair forward toward the face for a side swept effect

  • Next, take small sections of hair and fold around the air concentrator to achieve the “buckled” texture (seen below).

  • Then using duckbill clips (insert link here), pin along the folds of the hair and lightly mist CATWALK by TGI Work It Hairspray to set the look

  • To finish, separate and loosen the hair with fingers and use a soft bristle brush to tease hair at the crown

Nails

  • Create the “Checkmate” look by establishing  a bright checkerboard pattern set against a white base made for a restrained pop art effect. Don’t afraid to use contrasting colors.

  • The CND team created the luxe appearance of the “Veronica” look by totally covering the  mirrored glass-cut baguettes in various sizes, as a reflection of the embellished garments. Use press on nail jewels to create a similar effect.

  • Recreate the monochromatic drama of the “Bad Penny” nails using a metallic rose gold shade from CND’s upcoming Spring 2016 color selection, and press on stones. Cover the stones with an additional layer of polish and complete with a matte finish.
