For the Mara Hoffman Spring 2014 show, we were not only obsessed with the hair look coiffed by CATWALK by TIGI but Maybelline crafted a feminine and playful yet daring makeup look for the show as well. Here their lead makeup artist spills the beans on how they achieved the look:

“We placed warm color on all the places where the sun would touch your skin. On the lips, we did the Color Elixir which I’m obsessed with. It’s lip balm, lip stick and lip gloss all in one. And it’s amazing pigment. It’s got really great saturation and is really nourishing. We don’t have to prep the girls so it’s really speedy for NYFW.”

“We used our fingers to apply the blush. The other thing that I’m obsessed with is this Pure Pigment. This is normally a professional product but now Maybelline has brought this into the drugstore which I think is really amazing. You want to try this thing but you don’t always want to make a $25 investment.”

“Mara had the most amazing idea. She stuck her finger in it and just sort of pressed it under the eyes. So this color was applied with the finger underneath.”

“For the mascara, we used the Falsies Big Eyes which was amazing. It also has a skinny wand for the under-eye although for this look they didn’t use it.”

“And then we used the FIT Me Foundation as a base. I really wanted them to look finished and perfect and you’ll notice that the girls even have color over the ears. Its interesting for women to become aware that there are other areas of your body where you can use foundation.”

I love the purple under-shadow. It gives the look a dynamic twist without being too daring to try for a nighttime look. Thoughts on this?
