While this Sade inspired look is about polish it’s not necessarily about shine. Stylists used Aveda’s pomade with a matte finish to combat flyaways without adding shimmer. This is a great product to use on days when you don’t want globs of high gloss gel getting in the way of your minimal glam. Aveda stylist team member and beautiful brown girl Tippi Shorter took the time to explain to me how pomades have different finishes that can be used to create all types of different looks. I also couldn’t get enough of her sunset colored curls! Flawless!

Backstage I ran into another into another beautiful brown girl “Get Like Me” alum Candice Idehen working on nails for Deborah Lipman.  I guess Brown Girls Love New York Fashion Week!
