LBS Beauty Review: Cocotique

cocotique-1

This past September, a new beauty box emerged on the scene called Cocotique. With all the beauty box samples I’ve received since the “box craze” has begun, I decided to try a new approach with this one and wait a few months to see how I like the monthly boxes before doing a formal review. What I’ve found with some startup box services is that the first box is always amazing and then they begin to trail off little by little each month.

Cocotique, a deluxe beauty box subscription service for women of color, was nice enough to gift me with a three month subscription starting in September. I’m happy to say that their boxes have been consistently interesting and, I think, worth the money a subscriber would pay to receive them. Here are my initial thoughts:

 The August Box

The first box I received from Cocotique contained a great well-rounded selection of products. Everything from CURLS Cashmere Curl Jelly (which I tried and fell in LOVE with, such a great styler), to Cover FX primer, nail polish and even a workout DVD! Well worth the $20/month they’re charging.

What immediately drew me to Cocotique is that many of the products featured in the first box are products thast sare sold at a higher price point. Being able to sample them in a box like this is great. They are also tried and true products that work for women of color, which is a plus.

Every box includes a small Passport to Beauty pamphlet that explains the products in depth and also highlights new trends in beauty.

The September Box

The September box didn’t disappoint either. Included were some great skincare products including Cover FX foundation swatches, Specific Beauty Night Treatment, Shea Moisture Spot Correcting Serum, LA Fresh wipes and more. All super useful, and the Shea Moisture serum was full size!

The October Box

The October box had some great products that I tried out for the first time. Lift Lab skincare was included – oh my goodness, SUCH a good line of products. Their cleanser has my skin soft as a baby’s bottom. There was also nail polish, organic shea butter, exfoliating loofah soap and more.

temsah-products

This Temsah Products Shea Buttery Cream has been incredible for easing my tummy itchiness. Now that I’m in my third trimester, those dreaded stretch marks are trying to make their debut, but this cream has been doing a good job of keeping my skin elastic.

I love how this Heartland Fragrance Exfoliating Loofa Soap smells. It’s Vanilla and smells yummy. I’m a sucker for sweet-smelling soaps.

Overall, I’d highly recommend Cocotique beauty box subscription. You can tell that they put thought into the products they place in their box. All of the products are really well-curated (and products I’ve tried before that I love so I know they’re good) and high-end so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.

Have you tried Cocotique? Would you give it a try?
