LBS Holiday Gift Guide: The Product Junkie

lbs-holiday-gift-guide-product-junkieAdmit it. At some point in your life (maybe even still) you considered yourself a product junkie. You know, a master hoarder of products – whether it be hair grease, lipstick, nail polish, or granola bars. It’s okay, you can admit it. Repeat after me. “Hello, my name is (insert your name). And I’m a product junkie…”

Well, every vice has a remedy. And if you’re the type to purchase products to try them out and then end up keeping them for years without touching them, you may want to consider subscribing to a monthly box service. Beauty boxes aren’t for everyone. If you’re the type to find ONE product and use it for the rest of your life, beauty boxes aren’t for you. They’re best for the customer who likes to experiment, try new things, and DISCOVER. That’s the key. So here’s a top 6 list of my favorite boxes on the market (in no particular order):

1. Glossybox (for the Luxury Beauty Girl)

For luxe beauty lovers, this is a great option. I’ve been reviewing Glossybox since they first made their debut in the USA. They started out in the UK providing beauty lovers with samples of great luxury beauty products. Now they do the same for US consumers.

What I love is their global focus. Their monthly mini magazine includes all the latest trends in beauty across the globe.

2. Cocotique (for the Multicultural Diva)

I did a review of Cocotique just last month. It’s the newest beauty box subscription service specifically for women of color.

They cater specifically to us, including products for natural hair, makeup lines that carry deeper shades and aa myriad of other curated goodies.

3. Julep (for the Nail-Obsessed)

So I already know from the popularity of our Style Play Polish posts that many of you, like us, are obsessed with nails. If you happen to have a friend who is all-nails-everything, Julep is an amazing service that provides a box of new nail colors that fit in with your personal style. You go online, fill out a small profile, and they send you a custom box of nail shades. Simple & cute!

4. CurlBox (for the Curly-Haired Beauty)

This is the second recommendation of CurlBox we’ve made in our LBS Holiday Gift Guides. We also suggested them for our Naturalista gift guide. This service is awesome for women with curly and textured tresses. They provide a monthly and highly-coveted selection of products. ALSO, they have special boxes for Men and for Kids – bonus!

5. NatureBox (for the Health Nut)

Naturebox

I know LoveBrownSugar is all about fashion & beauty, but beauty starts from the inside and works its way out. So health and nutrition is incredibly important. If you’re shopping for anybody who happens to be health-conscious, NatureBox is a great option. They send over 5 new tasty and nutritious snacks  each month for subscribers to try and fall in love with.

6. Birchbox (for the Beauty Novice)

For the all-around beauty lover (or for someone who just wants to experiment more with it), Birchbox is a great way to go. Because they don’t cater to one specific category, you never really know what you’re going to get which is great if you like surprises and you’re just out to discover. Also amazing about Birchbox? They have an option for Men!
