LBS Travel: New Orleans Photo Diary

Last weekend I had the time of my life in the “Big Easy” aka New Orleans. Though I typically attend Essence Fest and get bogged down with appointments, events and endless activities, this year I opted to come a day early so I could take some time and explore the city a bit. Among other delightful run-ins, this epic blue door (see more of it in my How To Rock Horizontal Stripes post on TheOutfit.com) made my entire day and so did the amazing food.

First order of business when we arrived in NOLA was eats! New Orleans has the most AMAZING and delicious food in the entire country. I mean, finger licking good. I took a flight in with Rivea of TheFestivalista and so after landing and checking in we went out to grab food.

We ate at Old N’awlins Cookery on Bourbon Street which has really great authentic cajun food. Those gator bites are scrumptious. I mean, they are SO good. If you’ve never had gator this is the place to try it. And yes, it tastes like chicken.

Next we tackled the busy and bustling Canal St. This street is always super busy and essentially provides the best people-watching experience in the city (aside from crazy Bourbon St). It’s also where most of the big business in case you need to shop, pick up tourist paraphernalia or grab a travel kit at CVS.

This fresh little maxi dress is from Forever 21 and it instantly became my favorite summer throw-on piece. It’s super comfortable and I wear it as a mix of a top and a dress with shorts underneath. Available in PLUS and straight size for $19.90 HERE.

New Orleans is such a beautiful city. I love everything from the architecture to the small cobblestone streets in the French Quarter. It’s just a beautiful place.

Every little nook and cranny in this city has something special to offer. Whether it’s a mural, a drunk old man in a corner or beautiful french inspired architecture. Everywhere something special.

ALSO – you can drink in the streets! Like turn UP. All the way. Nobody cares.

Then we stumbled on this epic blue door and I had the most amazing mini photoshoot, in the style and grace of Solange, that I have ever had. Anyway, I wish I had snapped more shots of this beautiful city before leaving, but I plan to visit again real soon (not a work trip) to take in all the sites and eat some ‘mo!

Have you been to New Orleans? What are some of your favorite things to see and do there?
