#MBIBMoms Top 10 Beautiful Mommy Moments

As a new mom, I’ve found it so refreshing and encouraging to look back on the things I’ve accomplished and pat myself on the back when I really need it. This year I’m honored to be an ambassador for P&G’s My Black Is Beautiful “Mommy Moments” campaign sponsored by Pampers and Dreft. They’ve asked me to share my personal top 10 Beautiful Mommy Moments since giving birth to baby Cadence. Check them out below:

10. The day I started BabyBrownSugar.

Even though it’s my first time being a mom and I’m absolutely no expert in motherhood, starting a blog based around my journey into motherhood and being able to share that with the world was a big step for me. So many moms keep their questions and daily frustrations to themselves. Sharing experiences so we can grow together is what BabyBrownSugar is all about.

9. Our first on-air interview.

I’ve always dreamed of having a career that would allow me to include my children so they could experience first-hand what it takes to be successful. When Essence asked me to bring Cadence on a video segment with me about how I maintain her curls, I was thrilled! She’s a natural on camera! Who knew?

8. Cadence’s first play date.

It’s so important to me to surround myself with other hardworking, loving and encouraging mommies. Cadence has so many great play date friends and their moms are people I really admire and who I share experiences with to make the mommy journey less intimidating. Cadence is pictured above with her good friend Summer (aka Sparkle), daughter of Simone Gittens of Louis B Boutique

7. Cadence’s first walk outside.

It was such a simple and short moment in time but it meant so much to me!  After it took me 669734 hours to figure out how to strap her into her carrier, I was beyond proud to walk the streets with her. Never mind that she fell asleep 5 minutes after.

6. My first Mother’s Day.

I’ve always admired mothers in my life whether they were part of my immediate family or people I grew up around. Mothers have such strength and resilience, so much patience and so much love to give. Being officially part of the mommy club was a big step for me.

5. Bringing Cadence on her first international excursion.

MommyMoment-5

Being able to bring my daughter on a business trip to Jamaica this year has to be one of the highlights of my time as a mom. My dream is that one day she’ll go even more places than I’m able to.

4. Cadence’s first birthday.

MommyMoment-4

Birthday number one is huge! Not only was it a milestone for baby girl but it was a celebration of my first year into motherhood. I spent hours and hours pouring over details to make her celebration just right. It was my first time planning a themed kids’ party and I’m so proud of myself for pulling it off.

3. The first time Cadence said “Mom”.

MommyMoment-3

Like most babies, Cady’s first word was “Dada”. The excitement when she first said my name is indescribable. We have such a strong bond so her being able to call me by name was such a huge milestone for me.

2. Celebrating my first Christmas with her.

Sharing special holidays with my little one is truly amazing. Not all parents can do that, whether they’re away from home for work or other obligations, so I don’t take it for granted.

1. The day my baby girl walked into my life has to be my most beautiful mommy moment.

She changed my life for the better and everyday I strive to make hers as beautiful as she has made mine.

  1. Longtime lurker and fan here. I love this post! Especially the part about not taking the time for granted. I need to remember that when I’m feeling run down and frustrated with my kids. Happy belated Mother’s Day!
