Last week, the girls and I completed our 2nd consecutive NYFW Crawl. If you’re not familiar with the “Crawl”, essentially my best blogger buddies and I get together and hit up the same events and activities as a group. It started way back in 2011 as a Fashion’s Night Out get-together and since then we’ve traveled everywhere from New Orleans (#NOLACrawl), to Barbados and the Bahamas (#CaribbeanCrawl) and the streets of NYC for #NYFWCrawl. In our second annual #NYFWCrawl, myself, Jessica of Glamazons Blog, and Lexi of LexiWithTheCurls attended a few fashion shows together, partied it up with fellow bloggers at the RewardStyle #rsNYFW shindig, got glammed up with Hard Candy and went backstage at some of our favorite shows. Here’s a glimpse at all we got into plus a fun makeup GIVEAWAY for three lucky readers from Hard Candy!
Talking Texture Brunch
Many of you probably know that I’m one of the co-editors of the Beautiful Textures blog TalkingTexture.com. I’m so proud and excited to be apart of this project and day in and day out myself and my co-editor Ty Alexander post to the site in hopes of inspiring and education women of all textures about their hair.
So for this NYFW, Ty and I co-hosted a brunch in NYC to celebrate the website and to get our good friends together to toast another successful fashion week.
The brunch took place at Cafeteria (one of my FAVE restaurants in the city) and we had a blast. The girls and I got fancy in printed dresses for the fete.

RewardStyle NYFW Party
The next stop on our #NYFWCrawl was the RewardStyle blogger party at the Empire Hotel. Last year’s party was SO much fun, I knew this year’s was a can’t-miss affair. The only thing I hated was the humid and sweaty weather. I mean, my frizz factor was on ten thousand trillion.
Despite the humidity, we grabbed cocktails, took photos in the photobooth (necessary) and had an amazing time.
The highlight of my time was snapping #usies with Jessica, Lexi and Gabi (of Gabifresh) in our Kendra Scott rings.
Hard Candy Beauty Lounge
Downstairs at the Empire Hotel, we hopped and skipped over to the GBK lounge featuring Hard Candy. They were giving out makeup touch-ups, hair, and nails so obvi we had to get glammed up. The Hard Candy suite was one of my favorites of the entire week. They had such great artists and they have some really amazing products.
For example, you can use their Sweet Sorbet single eyeshadow compact and sweep a bit of it under the eyes out towards the cheeks for a nice subtle highlight. I got my makeup done and also got my hair touched up. Meanwhile, Jessica got her nails done and Lexi got hair and makeup as well. We arrived at our next destination – the Harlem’s Fashion Row sponsored by Pandora – so glam!

Essence Street Style Festival
On Sunday, the girls and I headed to Brooklyn for the Essence Street Style Festival sponsored by Chevy and Shea Moisture. Aside from some of my favorite designers and style icons being honored (hellooo Tracee Ellis Ross?!), I also stopped by to check out some of the fun interactive booths, the live musical performances and the amazing street style.
There were so many beautiful women and SO many great looks!
The girls and I decided to take the opportunity while we were all in DUMBO at the same time (an absolutely gorgeous location for pictures!) to snap pictures in our favorite printed frocks. We had way too much fun.
