The #FABFit Challenge + My 2014 Health Goals

fab-fit-instagramI can’t believe it’s June already! 2014 is almost halfway complete and there is still SO MUCH I still have left to accomplish before the year ends. Unfortunately I got a late start on achieving my health/weight goals this year because of BabyBrownSugar. Instead of cutting down on calories and exercising more, I had to eat more (breastfeeding will do that to you) and stay in the house with a newborn for nearly 4 months. Sigh..not the best way to kick off my #operationsnapback.

fruits-and-vegetablesNow that the summer is here, baby girl is a little older, and I have my second wind I’m committed to getting my body and mind right. So much of how you think and what you ingest has an effect on your emotional and physical well-being. I have a little angel to look after so I can’t let health problems or stress have an effect on how long I’m here on this earth.I’ve done everything from The Whole 30 (back in 2012) to a full LBS Detox (last year).  This time around, I’m partnering up with my good friends Jessica Andrews of Glamazons Blog and Lexi Felder of LexiWithTheCurls for a really cool fitness challenge called #FABFit.

The #FABFit Challenge is all about getting healthy and fit in a fabulous way. Eating right and exercising doesn’t have to be a bore. And you can easily make it fit into your lifestyle whether it’s running in the morning, Zumba classes after work, drinking more water throughout the day or replacing a bag of chips with a handful of carrots. With a little sacrifice and alot of encouragement, we can do this!

The challenge is running for 6 weeks total. It started on June 1st and will end on July 13th. We are focusing on three major challenges, the first of which is “CLEANSE”. Through mid-June, we’re focusing on transforming our ways of eating, eating clean, trying new recipes, cleaning out the fridge of “bad stuff” and getting centered on putting healthy things into our bodies.

My Goal: Drop the last 20 pounds of my baby weight.

I’m hoping to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and hopefully surpass my goal and lose even more. Really I want to learn to eat right and exercise more often. Now that baby girl is almost ready to start eating foods, I want to lead by example and eat healthy so that she will too. Since having the baby I gained nearly 60 lbs total, 25 of which came off immediately after labor/delivery.

I dropped an additional 15 lbs from a combination of breastfeeding and eating better. So this last 20 is all I need to complete my goal! My ultimate goal, though, is to really reprogram my mind and body to expect better. Better food, more exercise and overall better health.

Wish me luck and PLEASE join in! Simply post your favorite recipes, your “gym flow” pics and your nutrition/weight-loss goals on social media using the hashtag #FABFit. We can do this!

What are your health goals? What would you like to accomplish this year?
