I’m officially here! I just landed on the beautiful sunny shores of Barbados and I am absolutely in love with the island. I just met up with the rest of the #CaribbeanCrawl crew – Jessica of Glamazons Blog, Danielle of The Style & Beauty Doc, and Lexi of Lexi With The Curls – who flew in from Trinidad this morning. Getting here was a bit of a struggle but I’m finally here. Let’s just say between packing my bag, making sure my princess (BabyBrownSugar) had enough clothes to wear and breastmilk to eat, and making sure all loose ends were tied up before leaving – I’m exhausted! This is the perfect time to do some beachside lounging but before I do I wanted to share with you guys some of my travel essentials for the trip. Check out what must-haves you need for a fun 3-day Caribbean vacay like this one.
The first thing I pack for a big trip are my beauty must-haves. Everything from the essentials like Dove soap and Crest toothpaste to my CoverFX primer and MAC lipstick has to be checked off a list and packed up tight. I’ll have a completely separate post for you guys highlighting all the beauty items shortly.
I’ll include everything from makeup to skincare and hair essentials I bring with me so stay tuned!
Next on the list of must-haves are bathing suits! You can’t head to the Caribbean without planning to soak up some sun & play in the beach water and/or pool. The pieces pictured above are great swimsuit options for girls with curves like myself. The suit on the left is my favorite polka dot bikini from H&M – I wore it to the Adidas Coachella Pool Party HERE.

I never leave home without a sexy black one-piece suit. It’s perfect for hiding imperfections in the midsection and black looks good on everyone. The ruffled suit above is from Old Navy.
This is one of my favorite pieces to take to the Caribbean. It’s so bright & festive – it simply looks like palm trees & sunshine. I snagged this suit a few years ago at Joe Fresh and it’s still my fave.
I never leave home without a great party outfit. Another Peter Pilotto for Target gem I scored was this playsuit. Can’t wait to wear it while I’m here in Barbados. Also my customized GiGi New York Uber clutch adds a nice personalized pop of color to every outfit.
You always need a great dinner/date night outfit for a trip like this one. I love this maxi dress that I snagged from the Beyonce for H&M collection last year. I still wear it ALL the time – whether I’m on vacay or not. It’s a classic statement piece that works for day and night. The lovely folks at Gregory Sylvia sent me this Luxi Crossbody bag which is so pretty and functional.
While you’re getting fancy, don’t forget about casual outfits for city exploring and lounging. I always bring a great pair of jean cutoffs and a tank that’s cute and comfortable. Forever 21 Plus collection is great for comfortable and affordable cutoff shorts in the summer. And who can deny the dopeness of my Notorious BIG tank from H&M?
My outfit isn’t complete without a dope pair of shoes. Both of these beauties are from ASOS collection and they are both comfortable and functional for a trip like this, despite the heel height.
Functional, worn-in flats! Never leave home without ’em. The Zara pair to the left were my tried & true last summer and the Sam Edelman’s on the right make a great statement even though they are neutral colored.
