The Suno Spring 2015 beauty scene backstage was all about creating an effortless look with a polished edge. Lead hairstylist Odile Gilbert told us,

“The look is sophisticated in the front using a lot of gel to create a wet look…summer inspired and the back has a very sharp and dry fishtail.”

Odile used the new hairspray by Kerastase “Laque Noire”  to hold the style in place. This Glossy Cage Herringbone Braid looks complicated, but the easy guide below can help you do it like a pro. Keep reading to learn how to achieve this look.

How To Get The Hair Look:

  1. On dry hair, create a deep part using a tail comb
  2. Starting at the roots, apply a generous amount of Forme Fatale to the top half of the hair for a voluminous, wet look
  3. Comb hair back in an upwards wave on each side and secure with clips
  4. Create a cage herringbone braid by parting the dry ends into three sections. Begin crossing the lengths over each other and underneath
  5. Loosely deconstruct the braid for added volume and a lived in feel. Spray all over with Laque Noire for hold
  6. Finish with Gloss Appeal for instant shine

Makeup and nails were inspired by artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s flower paintings.  The beautiful flowers that she uses in her work was the key detail in making this look pop.

Lead makeup artist for Maybelline, Alice Lane, played with subtle pops of color. Using an orange shade of Maybelline lipstick as a blush on the cheeks and a red lipstick shade as a lip stain.

“Sometimes it just looks better when you mess it up, it doesn’t have to be perfect”.

Pro Tip: Alice Lane recommends that if you plan to try the lipstick as a blush go for bold colors that are not too sheer. The sheer colors will come right off. She suggests that you stick with matte or creamy textures.
