Last week, when I attended the NAACP Image Awards screening event with African Pride and Walmart, I had a pretty simple beauty look. Before I left for my trip, my hairstylist Seto Mccoy gave me a fun side part and long flowing tresses with a u-part wig he made using Vixxenn Hair extensions. I haven’t actually had long straight hair in a while so this was a fun look to switch up from my normal curls.
Since I had to maintain my hair for two days between the time I got it done and the big day, I opted to use flexi-rods to keep the shape of the curls and to minimize styling time before the red carpet. After taking the flexi-rods down, I was left with tight curls that needed to be fluffed and primped.
I used African Pride’s Olive Miracle Leave-In Conditioner to fluff the curls and moisturize my own hair.
I then used the African Pride Olive Miracle Silky Smooth Edges to get those fly-aways and baby hairs under control.
Next, I finished the look with African Pride’s Growth Sheen spray. To keep this look lightweight with movement, I used very minimal styling products only in the areas I really needed it. I didn’t want my hair to be weighed down so I used just a dime-sized amount of the leave-in and edge control cremes and just a few sprays of the Growth Sheen.
My makeup look was perfected by NYC-based MUA @AndiBeauty. African Pride provided me with a 30 minute session with Andi to get my makeup look on point and she did just that.
I love that she went with a purple color on my lips to compliment the color of my dress. This lippie is MAC Heroine. I love rocking a bold lip! We reviewed an entire collection of the them in our Ultimate Purple Lipstick Guide for Brown Girls.
Thoughts on my final look? Would you try this look at home?
