Earlier this year, new beauty box subscription service WeAreOnyx.com officially launched as an online beauty platform dedicated to Black women.
For $15/month, users can sample all types of beauty products – everything from hair to nails and skincare- that have been carefully curated by beauty experts. Here’s what was inside my personalized box:

Considering ALL the new beauty box subscription services out there now, I try to be diligent in my reviews of these services to let you guys know how I personally feel about them and whether they’re worth the money. After all, those subscription fees start to add up! With that said, here are 3 reasons I think you should give We Are ONYX a try:
1. Product Variety – they offer products for hair, skin, make-up and nails, which is great. Some services like CurlBox for example, are focused on one product category. I’m the type of girl who likes diversity so I like the product variety We Are ONYX offers.
2. You Choose Your Own – I like that they offer members the ability to pick exactly what they’d like to receive each month. Unlike services like Glossybox, for example, where the products you receive are a complete surprise. If you head to the How It Works section of the site they explain that you select 4-6 of your own products and they throw in a few extras as a surprise. While I love surprises, it’s nice to know that this service gives you some control for the $$ you’re paying.
3. Beauty Expert Videos – I love that they offer interactive videos about the products you’re going to sample. They’ve enlisted top industry experts, like celebrity hair stylist Felicia Leatherwood, to instruct on how to use products.
