LBS Chic: Bright Coats For Fall

So I hit up Zara during the their bi-annual sale in Juy (which I always do – those sales are MAJOR!) and I stumbled on a gem that I actually hesitated to pick up. It was July, cold weather seemed like a distant memory and I couldn’t see myself wearing an items like this in the fall. It was a bright yellow coat. I turned it backward and forward, ran my hands across the material, you know the usual. I pulled it off the rack and proceeded to try it on. Instantly I knew I had to have it. So I decided that this fall I would be “that girl” in a yellow coat.

Since purchasing my coat, I’ve paired it with everything from skirts to denim. It works so well as a statement piece and what I love about bright coats is that they can really brighten up your mundane wardrobe for the fall/winter seasons. Your coat is the first thing people see during the cold weather seasons, so why not make a statement?

Tips For Wearing A Bright Coat: Pair bright coats with other neutrals. If you’re going for a patterned look underneath, try to stick to a patterned piece in two colors only (like black and white houndstooth, polka dots or stripes).  Don’t be afraid to color-block as well! Just make sure the colors are both bold and complimentary.

  1. Love it! I’m in search for a coat now. I usually just revert to dark shades as soon as I feel the weather shift but color brightens the gloomy days.

    1. Thanks Amanda – glad you like it! And yes, I’m the same way. I stick with dark browns, navy blues, greys, etc. But take a risk! Color can be so much fun.
