In their summer issue, Essence sits down with Queen Bey for a chit-chat on her year-long hiatus. Don’t know about you all, but I can’t wait to get into this one. Althought I don’t like or read Essence, I like this cover. Her make-up and dress look very casual.

Essence, like most magazines, is very bland. The same stuff every issue. Also look at the ‘Great Sex Tips’ cover story. I’d expect that from Cosmo, not Essence. There was a time when Essence wasn’t that tawdry.
@Tif I think your sentiments are shared by a number of women, that’s so interesting. Honestly I love ESSENCE and I’ll always love it because of the fact that it celebrates black women, and even in this day & age, that’s hard to find. Have you checked out this post by Clutch Mag? I was an avid Essence reader from age 16. Ever since TIME bought it, it has a different vibe. I now only buy covers that interest me. I miss Susan Taylor.
