LBS Mompreneur Diaries: 3 Ways to #NoSickDays

This post was created in partnership with NyQuil/DayQuil.

As a mompreneur, I don’t often have time to think about myself. My babies come first – my daughter Cadence and my business. Mommy comes after. So when it comes to my day to day routine, I keep it simple, but still chic.

I aim for standout accessories (bright colored handbags for the win!) that help give me a pop of color and edge when I only feel like wearing black leggings and a sweatshirt. I always have moisturizer and lipstick on deck (because there’s nothing a dewy glow and a red lip can’t fix) and I hardly EVER take sick days. Imagine me popping into Cadence’s room like “Oh hey girl – no breakfast this morning. I need a sick day…”? Yeah no.

So when it comes to never skipping a beat I keep an arsenal. During cold & flu season, that arsenal undoubtedly includes DayQuil Severe & NyQuil Severe. I grew up with both these staples in my medicine cabinet. As the daughter of a working mom, I saw how my own mom didn’t skip a beat and if she ever fell ill she knew it was important to get back on her feet right away. So now, as a working mom myself I make sure to do the important things like getting proper rest and using tons of hand sanitizer daily. But with constant travel, and having a busy and curious toddler who literally touches everything that can give her the sniffles, it’s inevitable that I’ll catch something. Here are three quick tips for fab movers & shakers like myself who aren’t about that “sick day” life:

1. Be preventative.

The minute I feel a tickle in my throat, I down some daily vitamins, and cancel any plans I have for that evening. Stay in tune with your body and know when it’s time to power up on preventative measures and prepare to get your body recharged with extra rest.

2. Get rest and #treatyoself.

As soon as I get home, I’ll pour myself a cup of hot piping tea then take one adult dose of NyQuil Severe before hitting the bed early. Rest and prevention is really the key. If I’m feeling fancy, I might also run myself a hot bath and add a drop of eucalyptus essential oil to clear my sinuses.

3. Look the part and ditch the symptoms.

I’m a strong believer that how you look effects how you feel. Even if I feel like curling up under the sheets with my PJ’s on, I reach for something comfortable but also stylish that will put a smile on my face. Bright colored accessories, a spritz of my favorite fragrance. It’s really mind over matter. I power through my day with DayQuil Severe in my product arsenal. It’s non-drowsy and does the trick.

So there you have it folks! My secret for #NoSickDays. Obviously, every now and again you HAVE to set aside some time for yourself to get rest and repair through sickness. When it happens, don’t hesitate – get the help you need. But prior to it getting severe, these are some simple tips to keep in mind.

What about you guys? Any tips for keeping yourself lively and avoiding sick days? What’s in your product arsenal?
