LBS Red Carpet Beauty: Black Girls Rock with Beautiful Textures

Last weekend I was invited by the Beautiful Textures team to attend the taping of the 2015 Black Girls Rock awards ceremony. The show, airing on this Sunday April 5th, is an annual celebration of women of color – young and old – that are doing amazing things, blazing trails and making history. Words can’t express how honored I was to be invited and to be in the same room with some of these women including the honorees. Most amazing of all was getting to see our First Lady Michelle Obama grace the stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center to congratulate the three young women who were awarded as M.A.D.(Making A Difference) Girls. The night was filled with touching performances by everyone from Jill Scott and Estelle to Ciara and Erykah Badu. Check out my post about 3 Reasons To Watch Black Girls Rock for more on the actual show.

Before heading out for our night on the town, myself and my girl Jessica Andrews primped and prepped using Beautiful Textures products.

One thing I love about the BT line is that they have a product category for every curl type. I’m currently wearing curly extensions that are looser than my natural curl pattern and that are also died on the ends so I have to 1) moisturize regularly and 2) use mousses and gels that help define the curls lightly as opposed to thick cremes and butters that I use on my natural curl pattern.
